General Trucking
General Freight means that the trucking company is transporting goods that don’t need a special care except to be loaded in a Dry Van Truck and transported to the final location. The general trucking can be divided in Local transportation, Regional Transpiration, and Interstate transportation.
- Local transportation means that the freight is loaded and unloaded in the same area/city. This is transportation to local stores or dealerships.
- Regional Transportation means that the goods are transported further like the area around that city. The requirements are also to some stores and dealerships.
- Interstate Transportation – Is the most important segment of the trucking industry because it generates most of the US GDP. Also to be in the business of OTR transportation requires a lot of knowledge and preparation before somebody jumps in the business. The interstate transportation means that the trucks will drive in every corner of the US, Canada or Mexico. For everything to be perfectly done it needs all of the segments that I mention before to be fulfilled and connected.
