So don’t get ripped off! Pick the item you need and research it. Make sure you find out if it’s truly hard to find and what the average asking price is.
With many items you can probably haggle/ negotiate the price down, but sometimes you can’t! You get what you pay for! And when we speak vintage trucks and parts, price do go up!
Remember also that dealers have already done all this and are prepared.
Of course there are numerous other places. You can also check with local junk yards and mechanic shops.
Unfortunately these aren’t as common as they were and often they are now franchises. But if go to the more rural areas you would be surprised what you might find!
Also you can visit some of the truck auctions. You will be surprised just how much vintage is there.
Just recently I was attending one in Chicago area and I was thrilled to find out that one of the old Chicago trucking company that my grandfather was driving flatbed and OTR trucking for, was auctioning their new but old vintage trucks too!
The trucking company logo was still on some of the trucks! Figures!!
