ELD Mandate Fact No. 1: An ELD is an electronic solution that enables professional truck drivers and commercial motor carriers to easily track Hours of Service (HOS) compliance.
ELD Fact No. 2: The electronic logging device is pretty much the same thing with the paper logbook that drivers use currently to record their compliance with Hours of Service. Further, it is just a modified form and more modern way for drivers to be able to truck their Record of Duty Status (RODS) after all.
ELD Mandate Fact No. 3: Fleets have until December 2017 to implement certified ELD’s to record HOS.
ELD Mandate Fact No. 4: By December 2017, all CDL drivers required to keep a Record of Duty Status (RODS) must use an ELD to document their compliance with HOS rules.
