15 Tips for Truck Driving in Winter Weather

  • Drive slow, make changes gently, NO rush!
  • Don’t speed, that will give you more time to react in case something unexpected occurs in the roadway ahead;
  • Increase the fallowing distance;
  • In case you need to slow down quickly on slippery surface, than do it the right way! Pump your brakes lightly by using just the ball of your foot but keep your heel on the floor. That way you will prevent locking your tires and losing control over your truck;
  • Have extra patience and awareness of other drivers;
  • Avoid quick stops and starts on icy or rainy weather.

4. Clear Your Windshield, Mirrors, Lights, and etc.

Before you take off with your truck, take a moment to remove the snow off of your vehicle. Then clean the mirrors so you can put them in use once you are on the highway.

Don’t forget to put windshield liquids and clean well the glass too! Don’t make just a circle; because I assure you, you cannot see well through just one small circle that you’ve cleaned off your windshield, so clear it ALL!!!
