7. Never Sign Damaged Delivered Equipment
They probably told you while you were attending truck driving school and training that you need to inspect everything, and make pre-trip inspection and after-trip inspection.
Well, same goes here! Inspect everything before it leaves the auction grounds. You might have found the world’s greatest equipment transportation service provider since the first stone was chipped out of the rock quarry. That doesn’t mean things can’t happen.
Check to make sure everything is in an acceptable condition (in the perfect world you do things before the auction). But go over it; look for any preexisting issues, damage, missing parts. Make sure you take good notes, documenting everything.
It is best if you can do this with the equipment transportation driver or other representative. You need to do this inspection before it is loaded and/or once it is loaded, but before leaving the lot. Then do the same thing once the equipment arrives at your location.
