‘The Truck Driver and His Mate’ is a tongue-in cheek song performed from the British electronic pop duo called “Pet Shop Boys.

The inspiration for this song was a candy bar ad that was claiming that the candy bar was ‘big enough for a truck driver and his made’.

There are two interesting cultural notes in the song: ‘Lay-by’ is British words which refer to a resting area or truck stop and the other word ‘Taking Coals to Newcastle’ which is a metaphor for a useless task.

I will not say that this is a classic truck song but it’s definitely great song that will get in your ear once you hear it once.

‘18 Wheels and Jesus’ is a song performed by Tony Justice’s.  You probably have seen Justice’s CDs in your favorite truck stop.
