2. Trucking Songs – “Driving My Life Away”

Eddie Rabbitt released ‘Driving My Life Away’ in 1980, on his album Horizon. It was co-written by Rabbitt, David Malloy, and Even Stevens.

It managed to reach the top spot on Hot County Singles and scored fifth on the Billboard Hot 100. What added to its popularity was being used in the movie ‘Roadies’, starring Art Carney and Meatloaf. This was his seventh hit of a 17 chart topping singles!

 

3. Trucking Songs – “Roll on (18 Wheeler)”

The band Alabama had hit with ‘Roll on (18 Wheeler)’ in 1984. It was the title track off the album ‘Roll on’ and was the group’s twelfth straight number one single, according to Billboard Magazine’s Hot Country Singles chart!

Though there have been a few other versions recorded by the band, no one can deny that song really strikes home and has brought a tear to the eye of many a first time listener.

 

4. Trucking Songs – “Convoy

This little number by C.W. McCall recorded in 1975 is truly one of the more popular songs on the list, being used in the 1978 movie with the same name. Convoy was written by Chip Davis and Bill Fries (McCall) and was originally released on the album ‘Long Lonesome Road’.
