First – Set (and follow) your goals
What is the point, the purpose behind your truck decals? Are you trying to at some character, or are trying to gain name recognition? Perhaps you want more internet traffic. Whatever the end result you wish to obtain might be you need to have it in mind when you dream up your truck decals.

What do you want your truck decals to say, and how do you want the message presented. Of course you want your name and contact info to be listed. Perhaps you need to have a list of your services and even a logo. It really just depends on you.
But keep it simple, easy to recognize and easy to remember. Think of Nike, we all know what that is for. But have you ever seen a commercial and two minutes later had no idea of what the product was or who was selling it? The same can happen with a bad truck decals design.

Second– Truck decals layout
Really there is no right or wrong way to lay the truck decals out. You’ll hear experts by the dozen throw out suggestions, much of it is good, but can be overwhelming as well. What is important is it get the message across, it’s easy to understand, and is recognizable.
Nothing is worse than to be that company that spent a fortune and had no one who knew what they were about. So keep this in mind before you whip out your Photoshop and start creating some complex awesome design of truck decals. There are those who will strongly suggest that you create your concept, but leave it up to the professionals to actually create it. Unless you are a true graphic artist you might want to heed this advice.
If you are going to rough a truck decals out yourself, make sure you either admit it is not to scale, or use a scaled down model of your actual vehicles. The reason being is a 2-D picture might look great but it may not look right when printed and placed on a 3-D object. After all there are numerous curves and such to the body of your truck.
Now there are numerous options you can use when dreaming up your truck decals. You can have it permanently affixed to the vehicle or temporary. Sometimes you might be using a rental, or have contract drivers who are only making this one run. They won’t need or want to permanently mark their truck with your truck decals. But you’ll still need to have them identified with your company during the contract. Meanwhile your fleet vehicles all need to be marked in a manner that doesn’t require constant touch up.
