1. Remember To Chock The Wheels
Remember to properly chock your trailer and truck wheels. What is meant by this? Basically, chocking the wheels is the placement of a wedge or block to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Most people have seen this done at airports.
In the armed forces they live and breathe chocking the tires. Though it is a key requirement most people fail to do it. They get rushed for fail to see the need, until they are running after their truck as it rolls away.
If you are conducting a proper pre-trip inspection (or a DOT mandated one) they engine might still be running. You may also be testing the brakes. This is not the time to have your vehicle start to roll. The heavy truck could roll over you or someone else!
