7. CFN FleetWide
Commercial Fuel Network (CFN) is out in the market since 1988. Their CFN FleetWide card network comprises 350 companies that among them service 50,000 locations. In addition they also have 2,500, independently owned truck stops.
CFN offers access to both retail and card lock filling stations, giving its users flexibility and reliability. They became the industry’s leading fleet fuel card processor that operates in US as well as Europe when in 2003 they merger businesses with FleetCor Technologies.
CFN FleetWide can serve any size of business but it’s mostly suited to larger fleets, especially those that operate on long distances.
When you own a CFN card, you don’t have just a fleet fuel card; you have at the same time a fleet management solution.
Let’s look at some of the benefits that CFN FleetWide offers:
- High degree of security;
- Transactions limited by day, week, transaction cost, and gallon limits;
- Driver IDs can be assigned to individual drivers or on a floating basis;
- E-receipts allow for verification and tracking of purchases;
- In the event of unauthorized use, any card can be locked down quickly and easily;
- On the fleet manager’s side, there is a suite of useful reporting features including (exception-based reporting by account or by individual card, fuel management, user and account profiles, account management, custom reporting, and detailed transaction histories;
- 24/7/365 accessibility via a dedicated online portal.
- Coast-to-coast coverage in the lower 48 states.
- You can use their fleet fuel card at any station with the CFN or Fuelman sign as well as many other locations including Flying J, Love’s, Chevron, Texaco, Pilot, Sinclair, and many locations across the border in Canada.
Pros and Cons
Even thought CFN offers only one fleet fuel card, and the card is not backed up by some major credit card, they are still the right choice for many trucking companies out there.
Another con is that if your drivers routinely need to make other non-fuel purchases, they’ll need a separate card or expense reports.
Further, as the next con I will put the fact that this fleet fuel card is not the best solution for small business or local fleet use and its intended to be a fuel and expense management solution for large regional and national fleets.
When drivers want to find a station, they have multiple options including the FleetWide Site Locator, which offers web-based access to the dealer network, and the Android and iOS mobile apps.
Whichever option you choose, you can get results sorted by a number of search criteria, including:
