In order to take the hazardous materials test and get the hazmat endorsement you must meet eligibility criteria which are:
- As mentioned, already have a CDL license (An or B);
- Provide legal proof of US citizenship or legal status;
- Be of a legal age to operate a hazmat vehicle in your stage (or to cross state lines);
- Complete and pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check;
- Have a clean criminal background;
- Pay all appropriate fees.
There, of course, might be a few other basics, but these are pretty standard. Keep in mind some of the processes might vary depending on your state of the record.
