One thing that you must always remember to do is keep copies of your ‘proof of insurance’ in at least two places. These usually are the vehicle itself and the main office where the truck is based out of. Some companies actually keep copies at local offices as well. The FCMSA accept the following as proof:
- Form MCS-90: Insurance card issued from the insurance company.
- Form MCS-82: Or if you have a surety bond, than this is required.
It is very important that you keep this with your vehicle at all times. You will be asked to present it if you get pulled over. If you run across the border you might not be allowed to reenter the USA without it!
