For instance, when the truck drivers are operating a loaded vehicle they must not achieve more than 0,6 g deceleration on a dry highway.
Lightly loaded or heavy duty trucks which may lack a gravity center may go with an acceleration of 0,5 g lateral.
Specific Commodity Securement Requirements
Continually, the new cargo securement rules state that all systems, as well as devices, must be developed to meet the cargo safety requirements.
More importantly, all of those devices and systems must be in a proper working order. Correspondingly, the rules are applying to all of the tie downs involving:
- Steel strapping
- Chain
- Synthetic webbing
- Wire rope
- Cordage
Additionally, these rules are updated according to the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM).
Notably, these regulations do not necessarily mean that the older cargo securement devices have to be replaced.
