Conclusion
As I said earlier this is regulated industry. And if you aren’t use to following tons of rules than dealing with the DOT regulations might be a little tough at first. But that isn’t anything; you don’t only have federal regulatory agencies to deal with.
Remember the USA is made of fifty individual states so, there are 50 different sets of guidelines as well. And they are constantly changing depending on the environmental, political, and economic concerns that each area must control.
But don’t worry; this is all covered in your training. Good driving schools are much more than just driving the truck, which is the key of course, but they also cover everything, from the truck itself, to basic maintenance issues, and even how to fill out your electronic logs. Remember, they are about getting you prepared to enter the wonderful world of trucking, because after all, this is still one of the greatest industries to work in!
As with anything, it is very important that you research the various schools. Compare them to what is available with what you need. Not all the schools are the same. Always check out the review boards, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and even ask around. Truck driving is not just a job; it is a way of life, so make the best of it.
What other questions can you think of? If you already attended a school, do you have any advice? What were some of the good points? What school would you recommend?
