Don’t fallow to close because:
- You may hit debris that the truck has passed over without trouble. Or some other hazards to passenger vehicles like tire blowouts or other flying objects that are not as big of a treat for a truck;
- You may be unable to avoid a rear-end collision with the truck if you are driving too closely.
9. After Passing a Truck, Do Not Cut In Front Of It Immediately
This kind of goes without saying, you should never just cut in front of someone! But it is especially true if they are an 80,000 pound vehicle!
It doesn’t matter how good of truck driving school they went to, and whether or not they are experienced truck drivers. A driver can’t stop that much weight quickly, regardless the experience they have under their belt!
Just like a loaded train takes forever to stop, so does a loaded class 8 trucks. Semi truck accidents caused by someone cutting in front of the truck can be the most serious one. As the truck may just roll over your car and/or force it into the back of the next vehicle.
