16. Truck Driver Health – Do Not Skip Breakfast
We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is true, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that should be the “first thing in the morning” that you do! I am saying this to say that when you wake up you should take a moment to pull yourself together first, even perform a little exercise! But before you really start the day and go to work, eat something. It doesn’t have to be a huge meal, but never start on an empty stomach.
Usually breakfast should be protein meal; eggs, bacon, yoghurt, fiber breakfast cereal or whatever you like best, but don’t cook up steak to start the day!
Speaking of cooking there is a “long haul driver’s guide to healthy eating” by Pam Whitfield and Don Jacobson. So use some of their tips and try cooking your breakfast!
17. Truck Driver Health – Eat Several Small Instead Of A Few Large Ones
We all love to sit down and gorge ourselves at mealtime; well as I said don’t overdo it. With that said, it has been suggested that you should actually eat several (6) small meals throughout the day instead of the traditional three meals. That doesn’t mean snack on candy and junk, but rather eat half what you usually would (smaller portions), but then in a couple hours eat a little more.
Treat yourself to more than three meals, just do it healthily and skip the caloric meals!
