Here and there, flatbed trailers are most commonly used for hauling non-standard-size loads, that is to say loads that do not fit well in dry vans. Yet, it makes flatbed trailers sometimes to be the best option.
On the other hand, if you choose to transport your loads via flatbed trailer then you should know that your loads won’t have the same protection as for example if you transport it with dry van trailers.
The most commonly transported flatbed loads are the following:
- Construction equipment- the ideal means of construction equipment transportation is the flatbed, that is so because the construction equipment does not need any protection;
- Lumber and construction materials;
- Steel coil and tubing;
- Auto parts;
On the negative side, flatbed transportation is highly dependent on weather, it can be seen as a seasonal and cyclical business. But on the positive side flatbed trailers are versatile and can transport any kind of loads.
